Gas Leak in Zhonghe Causes Water and Mud Eruption Emergency Evacuation by Fire Department

On June 20, 2024, at around 1 p.m., a significant gas leak was reported in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, due to construction workers accidentally damaging a gas pipeline, causing gas to leak along with mud and water eruption. Firefighters and police quickly responded to the scene where gas levels exceeded safety limits. The repair was estimated to take three hours. Precautionary measures were taken by setting up water lines and fans. Public was reminded to be aware of gas pipelines for safety and disaster prevention.
