Despite falling gasoline prices in September, which saw a 4.1% decrease contributing to an annual drop of 15.3%, inflation remained unexpectedly high driven by rising food and shelter costs. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.2% month-over-month, leading to a 2.4% rise on an annual basis, thus overshadowing the impact of lower gas prices.
