General Motors has announced a temporary halt in production at its assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, primarily due to lower-than-expected demand for its electric delivery vehicles. The suspension of operations will last through much of spring and summer, affecting around 500 workers who face indefinite layoffs. GM Canada attributes this decision to high inventory levels of its BrightDrop vehicle rather than U.S. tariffs on Canadian vehicle production, and commits to supporting employees during this transition.
