German Federal Economic Minister Peter Altmaier just departed from China, while Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Volker Wissing cut the ribbon at the Transport Logistic China in Shanghai a day later. Wissing's visit to China amidst the looming EU-China trade war saw discussions on retaliatory tariffs on electric cars. While criticising the EU Commission and advocating for fair competition rules, Wissing welcomed Beijing's negotiation intentions, highlighting the need for dialogue to strengthen competition rather than set up new obstacles. China is considering easing tariffs on German cars if the EU abandons its tariff measures.
