On June 23, 2024, at 4:15 am, German Postbank announced an internal restructuring plan confirming the layoff of 1,000 employees. Postbank, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank, is transitioning into an online bank, planning to reduce the number of branches from 550 to 320 to cut unnecessary costs. The transformation will lead to job cuts affecting around 1,000 employees, excluding customer service departments. Postbank, established in 1990, was acquired by Deutsche Bank in 2010 and currently has about 17,000 employees serving 13 million customers.
