Germany's largest industrial union, IG Metall, is pushing for a 7% pay raise for 3.9 million workers, citing companies' strong financial positions and a high price level. This demand comes after the previous agreement included an 8.5% raise over two years and one-time payments to combat inflation. IG Metall is calling for a one-year deal and believes the industry's stability warrants the increase, despite some companies facing challenges. Wage negotiations in Germany are typically sector-wide and the current agreement expires in September, with inflation at 2.4% in May and ongoing economic struggles.
