Ghana has reduced its cocoa harvest forecast for the 2024-25 season by 5%, now estimating 617,500 tons due to adverse weather conditions, including hotter temperatures and insufficient rainfall. This marks the second cut this season following a previous 20% reduction, contributing to rising cocoa prices amid supply concerns from weak harvests in West Africa. The Ghana Meteorological Agency has also warned of increasing heat waves, further impacting agricultural outputs.
