In 2025, global container traffic achieved a record high with 16.61 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in August, surpassing previous months, despite a 0.5% drop in North American imports, including the U.S. During the first eight months of 2025, global volumes rose by 4.4% year-on-year. Most regions, except North America, reported significant import growth, buoyed by strong performances in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and Europe. Additionally, the CTS Global Price Index for shipping rates continued to decline, reflecting market adjustments even with the rise in container volumes.
