Singapore's port congestion has reached its most severe level since the COVID-19 pandemic began, disrupting global shipping as ships are forced to take longer routes to avoid attacks in the Red Sea. This situation has caused bottlenecks in other ports across Asia and Europe, leading to challenges such as soaring freight rates, port congestion, and container shortages. Due to ships being delayed in Singapore, cargo handling and transshipment processes have been affected, with some vessels now bypassing the port altogether, causing congestion in neighboring ports like Port Klang in Malaysia and Tanjung Pelepas Port. The pressure is also increasing in Chinese ports.
