General Motors has paused production at its pickup-truck plant in Silao, Mexico, for several weeks, impacting the output of its best-selling Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models. The plant was down for the first two weeks of July and is expected to halt again during the weeks of August 4 and 11. Although the company claims this downtime is part of routine maintenance, the extended pause is atypical for a plant that produces its most profitable vehicles.
