General Motors (NYSE:GM) is considering purchasing batteries from the Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) for the second iteration of the Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle, despite existing tariffs on Chinese goods. This strategy allows GM to maintain production in the short term as it transitions to utilizing batteries made by LG Energy Solution in the U.S. within two years, showcasing the company's effort to balance international sourcing and domestic manufacturing while addressing rising demand for electric cars.
