GM to Lay Off Nearly 1,700 Employees in Kansas Factory

Reported 17 days ago

General Motors has announced the layoff of 1,695 workers at its Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas, with the first round starting on November 18. This decision follows the company's plans to pause production of the Cadillac XT4 after January 2025 and comes as GM invests approximately $390 million to support new tooling for the Chevrolet Bolt EV production set to resume in mid-2025.
