Gold Gate Island's Major Blackout Caused by Ta Shan Power Plant Trip, Legislator Chen Yu-chen Demands Explanation from Taiwan Power General Manager

Reported about 1 year ago

In response to the major blackout on Gold Gate Island at noon on the 9th, Kuomintang legislator Chen Yu-chen expressed anger and demanded that Taiwan Power Company give the people of Gold Gate Island an explanation. Chen indicated that not only were residents sweating profusely during the blackout, but also seven locals were stuck in elevators, causing disruptions in the Kinmen-Xiamen Quasi Three-Links. Despite power gradually being restored, she urged Taiwan Power to investigate the cause promptly. The blackout, affecting over 40,000 households on Gold Gate Island and nearly 1,000 households on Little Gold Gate Island, was initially attributed to a trip in one of Ta Shan Power Plant's units. Chen immediately contacted Taiwan Power Company's General Manager Wang Yao-ting to expedite investigations and repairs, emphasizing the intolerable situation faced by the people due to frequent power outages despite Taiwan Power's claims of no power shortages.
