At the 35th Golden Melody Awards held on June 29, 2024, Bana won the Best Taiwanese Album award and mentioned the Tiananmen Square incident in her speech, urging people not to forget. However, her full speech was not posted on the official Golden Melody Facebook page. Additionally, during HotDog's performance, there was a microphone malfunction, leading to criticism. The Ministry of Culture issued an apology and promised to review and hold accountable those responsible for the mishaps. The Ministry clarified that speeches were posted according to ceremony rhythm and denied intentionally omitting parts. They also assured they respect all creators' freedom of speech and demanded the complete posting of the missing content. The mic issue was attributed to on-site sound track problems, currently under investigation by the responsible unit. The Ministry, in collaboration with the organizers, acknowledged the shortcomings of this year's event and vowed to learn from them for future ceremonies.
