At the 35th Golden Melody Awards held at Taipei Arena, controversy arose as indigenous singer Banai, who won the Best Taiwanese Album Award, mentioned the Tiananmen Square incident in his acceptance speech but the official social media post was edited, and singer MC HotDog's microphone went silent during his performance. The Ministry of Culture issued an apology and clarification after the ceremony, stating they respect every creator and will not intentionally censor anyone's speech. They have requested the Golden Melody Awards Facebook page to publish the complete remarks and are investigating the microphone issue. The Ministry also acknowledged shortcomings and will take responsibility, using this as a reference for future ceremonies.
