On June 8, 2024, black bears and Formosan clouded leopards were spotted coexisting in Nanshi Tribe, Taichung, Taiwan. This came after the establishment of Taiwan's first independently managed hunting organization, named in the Atayal language, aiming to protect the environment. Through monitoring efforts, the presence of these rare animals sharing habitat was observed, with recent footage capturing black bears wandering in the forest, leading to rewards being issued for habitat monitoring. The association utilizes both traditional knowledge and modern technology to safeguard the area, fostering a culture of conservation among indigenous people and residents, promoting peaceful cohabitation with wildlife.
