Reported 12 months ago

In New Taipei, a 66-year-old man named Mr. Xie kindly offered a ride to two men surnamed Wu who asked for a lift while he was going downhill on Hua Xin Street. Unfortunately, the motorcycle's brakes malfunctioned due to what is believed to be overloading, resulting in a loss of control and a fatal accident. One of the passengers, Mr. Wu, was thrown off the motorcycle and succumbed to a fatal head injury. Mr. Xie, who was riding without a license and found guilty of negligent manslaughter, was sentenced to 4 months in prison. Despite his remorse and reaching a settlement with the victim's family, he has the option to appeal the verdict.
