Google Ad Tech Antitrust Suit Will Go to Trial, Judge Rules

Reported 7 months ago

Alphabet Inc. will face trial defending against all US Justice Department claims in a Google online advertising technology monopoly case, as a judge rejected their request to decide before trial. The case, involving a Google monopoly in display advertising on the open web, will proceed to trial in September as too many facts remain disputed. Google had sought summary judgment, but Judge Leonie M. Brinkema ruled in favor of a trial, disqualifying an expert witness from the case. Last year, the DOJ sued Google for alleged market monopolization in online ads, with the case proceeding as a bench trial with no jury.
