Google announced a partnership with the Institute for Information Industry (III) and National Taipei University (NTPU) to cultivate cybersecurity talent, aiming to train 2,000 professionals by 2025. III plans to train 500 talents by the end of 2024, while NTPU aims to train 1,500 by next year. This initiative addresses the global shortage of cybersecurity professionals, estimated at 4 million by 2023 with an annual growth rate of 12.6%. Google.org donated $1 million to support the 'NICS Taiwan Cybersecurity Project,' and Google introduced the Google Taiwan Cybersecurity Talent Development Program with the aim of offering the 'Google Cybersecurity Certificates' for free to participants upon completion of the program, which covers essential cybersecurity topics and tools such as Linux, SQL, Python, and communication skills. The program has flexible scheduling and takes about 4 to 6 months to complete, benefitting both professionals and industry advancement.
