Google is partnering with Kairos Power to construct seven small nuclear reactors in the U.S. to power its AI systems, with the first expected online by 2030. The initiative aims to provide 500 megawatts of clean, carbon-free energy, helping to meet increasing electricity demands as data centers grow. The unique reactors use a molten salt cooling system, differing from traditional nuclear plants, and aim to support decarbonization efforts across electricity grids.
