Reported 5 months ago

Google's parent company, Alphabet Inc, is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire Israeli cybertech company Wiz for $23 billion. Founded by a former officer from the elite 8200 military unit, the potential deal highlights the role of Israel's military intelligence in driving the country's tech economy. The acquisition could further boost Israel's tech sector, which has already produced successful companies like Check Point Software Technologies, CyberArk, and Waze. The strong performance of Israeli startups, particularly in the cybersecurity sector, is evident from the rise in private funding to $5.1 billion for Israeli startups in the first half of 2024, with cybersecurity accounting for 52% of the funding.
