Google announced the deactivation of its AdSense accounts in Russia, effective August 2024, citing ongoing developments in the country. The decision follows years of pressure due to content regulation issues and recent service slowdowns. Google mentioned that it would no longer process payments for accounts able to monetize traffic outside Russia, essentially shutting down earnings for these users. The company previously halted ad services in Russia in March 2022 amid the Ukraine conflict.
