Government Increases Long-Term Care Subsidies to Up to 120,000 NTD, Applications Open on 1st July with 'One-time Payment for 12 Months'

Reported about 1 year ago

The Ministry of Health and Welfare has raised the annual subsidy amount for long-term care to a maximum of 120,000 NTD to alleviate the economic burden on families of individuals with moderate to severe disabilities receiving institutional services. Beginning in 2023, the subsidy program for residential service institutions will increase from a maximum of 60,000 NTD to 120,000 NTD per person annually, with no asset limit. This year's first phase of long-term care subsidies will open for applications on July 1, with approval typically within one month, ensuring a one-time payment of 120,000 NTD for eligible individuals. Residents meeting certain criteria can receive the annual lump-sum subsidy of 120,000 NTD, while those falling short of the 180-day residency requirement will receive a prorated amount. Existing residents who met the residency requirement by December 31, 2022, are also eligible for a 6,000 NTD subsidy for the year. The application process for the 2024 institutional subsidy spans from July 1 to December 31, 2024, and then from January 1 to March 1, 2025, for the second phase. Subsequent applications will not be accepted after this deadline.
