Government Official: No Need to Increase Subsidies for New Housing Loans with Potential Interest Rate Hike by Central Bank; Efforts to Control House Prices Proven Effective

Reported 7 months ago

Minister of the Interior Liu Shih-fang stated that additional subsidies for the New An-Quan housing loans are unnecessary. Since the launch of this policy, there have been concerns about its impact on promoting housing speculation. Liu indicated that with nearly 50,000 households benefiting from these loans, they have already shown some effectiveness in controlling house prices. The government had introduced the New An-Quan program last year, but due to factors like the influx of hot money and external debts, Liu suggested against increasing subsidies further to avoid driving up property prices. The Ministry of the Interior emphasized that if the central bank were to announce an interest rate hike, it's better not to increase interest subsidies to prevent further escalation in house prices.
