In order to create a conducive environment for green energy development, Taiwan started the liberalization of green energy in January 26, 2017, allowing renewable energy generators to sell electricity and provide multiple channels for purchasing renewable energy to meet the growing demand. However, the recent proposal by the Ministry of Economic Affairs to establish a pan-government-owned electricity trading platform and consider tiered pricing for direct purchase of green energy by companies has caused concern among industry players. Suggestions include limiting the platform to wind power transactions to avoid disrupting the established green energy market and ensuring market stability and long-term development.
