Government to Address Policy Loopholes in New Youth Housing Loan Program

Reported about 1 year ago

Taiwan's Interior Minister, Liu Shih-fang, announced plans to report data to the Cabinet within two days to address concerns of real estate speculation using the New Youth Housing loan program, originally intended to help young people purchase homes. The government aims to crack down on speculative behavior and may remove loans for purposes like post-loan renting. Real estate developers are urged to self-regulate marketing practices, with potential penalties of up to 50 million NTD for violations. The government reassures its focus is on curbing property speculation rather than property itself, emphasizing the program's positive intent for young homebuyers despite recent misuse by some industry players.
