During the legislative hearing of the Parliament Rights Bill, the Chief Executive of the Legal Affairs Committee and a lawyer submitted an application to the Constitutional Court for constitutional interpretation and provisional disposition on behalf of the Executive Yuan immediately after the bill was passed. The purpose of the constitutional lawsuit is stated not to oppose parliamentary reform but to ensure its constitutionality and legality. This move has sparked debates between the ruling and opposition parties, with the Executive Yuan emphasizing that the purpose is not to hinder parliamentary reform, while the Kuomintang criticized it for deviating from its initial intentions and using unconstitutional reasons as an excuse. The Presidential Office is expected to follow suit in submitting the application the next day, while the Control Yuan is yet to confirm its timing for the same action.
