GPT-5 Leap Forward, Set to Launch by End of Next Year

Reported 8 months ago

Speculation arose in the industry that OpenAI would release the new AI model GPT-5 last year, but halfway through this year, there is still no sight of it. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasized that there is no set timeline for the release of GPT-5, with CTO Mira Murati stating that it will likely be launched by the end of 2025 or early 2026. Following the success of ChatGPT chatbot introduced by OpenAI in late 2022, tech giants like Google, Meta, and Amazon have been investing in AI model development, creating competition for OpenAI. Despite having launched GPT-4 and GPT-4o in the past two years, the highly anticipated GPT-5 with significantly enhanced comprehension and analytical capabilities remains delayed, causing various speculations. GPT-5, internally coded as 'Gobi' and 'Arrakis' at OpenAI, is a multimodal AI model with a whopping 52 trillion parameters, promising advancements from high school to university-level understanding and analysis, and even showcasing doctoral-level problem-solving abilities for specific issues.
