Amid a 50% reduction in taro production this year, 77-year-old Liu Pan Xiu-lan from Jiuru Township, Pingtung County, cultivated an enormous 'bomb-like' taro weighing 8 taels through her dedication and love, impressing many, including the township's agricultural association director, who helped sell them at a promotional price. With careful organic and composite fertilizer cultivation in a betel nut orchard over a 9-month period, Liu managed to grow such large taros, selling them for nearly 500 NTD per piece. The effort has garnered praise and sales beyond her expectations.
