In the aftermath of a train derailment caused by falling rocks in the New Shuili Tunnel, passengers on Taiwan's Train 229 had to navigate through mud and rocks. Unlike the 2021 Taroko Express derailment, this incident did not trigger the warning system as it occurred on a different line. Passengers were assisted by police and others as they cautiously made their way out of the tunnel, with one woman carrying a baby and using an umbrella as a makeshift cane. The incident damaged the first carriage and caused the second to derail, prompting discussions on improving safety measures.
