Grandparents Can Receive Paid Grandchild Leave in Sweden, Envied by Parents Worldwide

Reported 12 months ago

Starting from July 1, 2024, in Sweden, grandparents can receive up to 3 months of paid leave during their grandchild's first year as a subsidy for helping care for the grandchildren. Sweden offers extensive parental benefits including 16 months of parental leave, child benefits until the child turns 16, and free education until age 19. This new law allows grandparents to transfer a portion of their paid leave to help care for their grandchildren, contributing to Sweden's reputation for generous family support.
