President Lai Ching-te approved the 'Reconsideration of the Amendment Bill for Five National Legislature Acts,' which will be voted on again on the 21st following legislative party negotiations, with rumors of the 'Bluebird Action' surrounding the Legislature once more. KMT legislator Hsu Yu-chen stated that the DPP has degenerated into synonymous with 'democratic dictatorship.' She criticized the DPP for inciting people to surround the Legislature next week, forgetting President Tsai Ing-wen's 2016 advocacy for parliamentary reform to 'establish a hearing investigation system and strengthen supervisory capacity.' Despite 57.3% public support for parliamentary reform, the DPP refuses to take this essential step towards a new era, only focusing on inciting protests on the streets. Hsu pointed out that over the past 8 years, the DPP, despite its majority in parliament, failed to fulfill promises of parliamentary reform until new elections in 2024 provided an opportunity for reform. While the KMT and MPC responded to the new public opinion, only the DPP shied away from this historical moment, instead opting to incite protests and surround the legislature, likening President Lai to Puyi. Hsu criticized the DPP's reluctance to face the significant moment. She further called out the government for wasting resources on campaigning against reform, emphasizing the need for responsible handling of the pending legislative agenda. Lastly, Hsu stated the KMT will rigorously review the budget to prevent misuse of public funds for the DPP's election purposes, ensuring proper checks and balances to prevent governmental abuse of power.
