A civic group in Keelung launched the 'Dismantling Leung Action' to recall Keelung Mayor Xie Guoliang. The organizers announced that they have exceeded 36,000 signatures, surpassing the second-stage recall threshold, and plan to submit the petition on July 5. In response, Kuomintang Chairman Eric Chu pointed out the efforts of DPP in fighting against Xie Guoliang and called on former Interior Minister and Keelung's former mayor Lin Youchang to 'offer words of repentance' to stop the recall. This move by the DPP has stirred up discontent among citizens as Keelung under Xie's leadership strives for municipal governance, aiming for a loving, harmonious, and prosperous city.
