During a health and environment committee meeting, Democratic Progressive Party legislator Lin Shu-fen revealed that some hospitals only charge 6000 NTD for priority bed placement, in light of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's decision to remove the cap on registration fees for hospitals and clinics in March. Minister of Health and Welfare, Shiu Tai-yuan, admitted to receiving discounted treatment at National Taiwan University Hospital. Lin criticized the minister and other officials for enjoying special privileges while the general public faces issues such as high registration fees and poor service quality in public healthcare facilities. Shiu promised to investigate further and address the concerns raised by Lin.
