During his bicycling trip in Hualien on June 7-8, People First Party Chairman Ko Wen-je criticized Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei City Councilor Li Chien-chang for implying that people avoided traveling to Hualien because of their support for Fu Kun-chi and his wife, leading to backlash. Ko expressed shock at Li’s remarks, condemning them as divisive and harmful. Ko Wen-je, along with his wife, participated in a cycling event in Hualien to promote local tourism and emphasized the need for unity instead of fostering division. Additionally, Ko highlighted the importance of practical infrastructure improvement, especially concerning the Su-Hua Highway, to boost tourism in Hualien.
