A serious fire broke out at 11:09 pm on June 12, 2024, on Yanshou Road in Tu Cheng, New Taipei City, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The fire occurred in a 7-story residential building where a family of five, along with the daughter's boyfriend, resided. The mother, son, and daughter's boyfriend tragically lost their lives in the fire, leaving only the father and daughter to escape. Overwhelmed by the news of his wife and son's deaths, the father rushed to two hospitals to bid them goodbye. The boyfriend's body remains in the building on the 7th floor due to high temperatures. The cause of the fire is suspected to be an explosion from a lithium battery charging for gardening equipment, blocking escape routes and leading to the rapid spread of fire up the scissors staircase from the 4th to the 7th floor.
