Gunman who shot Lin Shijie set a checkpoint! Suspected to have fled the country

Reported about 1 year ago

According to SET News on July 8, 2024, the first vehicle used in the crime was found burned to destroy evidence, but remnants of firearms were still discovered. Lin Shijie, the director of a fisheries association in Tainan City, was shot at close range in front of his house, critically injured and later pronounced dead. The gunman immediately fled the scene and set fire to the vehicle to create a diversion, leading authorities to suspect a well-planned crime. The police found a second vehicle linked to the suspect in Kaohsiung and speculated that the gunman may have fled the country. Speculation suggests that the case may be connected to personal disputes over agricultural and fisheries association interests, prompting a thorough investigation and the involvement of Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-Che in urging swift action by the police.
