Yesterday in Hwagang, Ren'ai, Nantou, hail fell and destroyed the vegetable gardens, filling carts with hailstones. The farmers lamented the loss of their crops, with one resident jokingly asking if it was the Arctic. With heavy hailfall in the midst of dramatic weather changes, the residents feared for their upcoming harvest. The hailstorm severely affected the vegetable farming area, causing losses estimated at over NT$100 million, with the unusual weather conditions attributed to intense convective activities at high altitudes in the mountainous region.
