On July 2, 2024, at 4:58 a.m., it was discovered that out of the 17 heroin bricks confiscated by a special task force, 11 were actually fake bricks with no drug components. A deputy team leader surnamed Huang from the Criminal Investigation Bureau's Investigation Unit 1 was accused of colluding with informants and lawyers in leaking information, leading to searches of Huang's office, home, and seizure of involved lawyers and 5 detectives from the Longtan Sub-Bureau in Taoyuan by prosecutors. Huang was ordered to post bail of 300,000 NT dollars, the lawyer 100,000 NT dollars, and the 5 detectives were released as witnesses. The case originated in March when a drug dealer named Li was arrested with heroin bricks, and during the investigation, it was found that more than half of the seized bricks were fake, sparking suspicions of an inside setup in the drug dealing transaction.
