Major General Meijia Shu accompanied Defense Minister Gu Li Xiong to the Legislative Yuan for the first time to report and answer questions on the planning of the Han Guang Exercise 40. With emphasis on the upcoming Han Guang Exercise 40 live-fire exercise on July 22, the focus was on how to 'operationalize' and verify which aspects can respond to new changes in China's military threats. Major General Meijia Shu pointed out that the extension of the cyber troops exercise from 5 days 4 nights to 8 days 7 nights this year is primarily due to the potential of the PLA to 'transition from exercise to war,' a capability the Taiwanese military needs to be prepared for. Three key points are highlighted: how the military can quickly transition from peacetime to wartime readiness, the importance of transitioning from peacetime to wartime conditions, and adjusting operational thinking in response to potential PLA actions against Taiwan, leading to the extended exercise duration for thorough verification.
