The Han Guang Exercise No. 40 will be held from July 22 to 26 with Taiwan canceling live ammunition shooting. Chief of General Staff Mei Jiashu emphasized the importance of decentralized training this year, focusing on independent combat capability while planning to familiarize with the operational environment. The defense minister and Chief of General Staff briefed the Legislative Yuan on the exercise's planning, addressing questions on training goals and responses to increasing threats from China, mentioning that while there is no live ammunition training on the main island, it continues in outlying islands, integrating precision missile shooting and tactical positioning.
