The Han Guang live ammunition drill is set to commence on July 22nd, 2024, with a continuous five-day operation for all participating units without breaks. The exercise will test commanders on how to arrange rest rotations for troops. Unlike previous stages, this year's drill will involve three phases: paper theory, computer-assisted command, and live ammunition, focusing on real-time, on-site scenarios. There will be no set rest periods, and leaders must judge when to allow rest while maintaining maximum combat readiness. Despite concerns over troops' appearance during the exercise, due to the summer heat and practical combat conditions, the military has instructed that dress code violations will not result in punishment.
