Hand in Hand: Illuminating the Campus in an Aging Society

Reported 8 months ago

Dr. Fu Yinzhi, the director of Taipei World Clinic, mentioned that the Daitung Happy Learning Center is the only sunlight center in Taiwan that has been approved by the Ministry of Education to teach a curriculum on intergenerational learning. With Taiwan entering an ultra-aged society, various local elderly assistance and residential solutions have emerged due to difficulties in replacing foreign caregivers. In response, the government has been providing services and external resources, focusing on 'Inter-Generational Learning,' 'Care Services,' and 'Elderly Residential.' In 2025, Taiwan officially steps into the ultra-aged society, and to ensure that the elderly can enjoy their lives peacefully, Kaohsiung city has built three safety nets, including sunshine centers for the elderly, community care centers, and C-grade alley long-term care stations. This initiative aims to promote 'Inter-Generational Harmony' by establishing sunshine centers on campuses, with Kaohsiun being a pioneer in this field. By cooperating with Kaohsiung municipal government, the Daitung Happy Learning Center has successfully implemented innovative elements to enhance the well-being of the elderly, such as AI technologies and interactive visuals, helping to delay cognitive decline among the elderly.
