The act of a Mainland Chinese coast guard ship boarding and confiscating the Penghu fishing vessel 'Da Jin Man 88' has sparked attention. Zhang Jing, a researcher at the Chinese Strategic Institute, pointed out that the vessel was intercepted east of Wuchiou and Dongching Islands, emphasizing the necessity of purposely maintaining ambiguity in dealing with cross-strait issues. He highlighted that in handling such situations, the ideal approach would be for both sides to 'not recognize sovereignty, while not denying the right to govern.' Zhang Jing stressed the importance of avoiding provocative rhetoric or legal references to prevent escalating tensions between the two sides.
