HarmonyOS Next to be Officially Launched in Q4 This Year, First Used in Upcoming Mate 70 Series Phones

Mashdigi reported that Huawei announced the upcoming release of HarmonyOS Next for Q4 this year, with the software set to be first implemented in the Mate 70 series phones. The OS will be available for preview by developers starting from now in beta versions and is expected to open for general consumer testing in August this year. Apart from the Mate 70 series, other devices like Mate 60, Pura 70, Mate X5 smartphones, MatePad Pro tablets, FreeBuds Pro 3 earphones will also be upgraded to HarmonyOS Next in Q4 this year, while products like smart TVs and glasses will receive the update in 2025. Huawei highlights the design of HarmonyOS Next with six key experiences: 'native refinement', 'native ease of use', 'native smoothness', 'native security', 'native intelligence', and 'native interconnection'. The new OS boasts a 10.7% performance improvement compared to Linux, with optimizations in software, hardware, chips, and cloud computing, promising a 20% to 30% annual performance boost for smoother execution efficiency, equivalent to an upgrade in chip generations.
