The original watercolor illustration cover art of the first book of the Harry Potter series, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone,' was sold for a staggering $1.9 million at a Sotheby's auction, setting a record. The artwork, created by Thomas Taylor in 1997, depicting the iconic image of a young boy with a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead and round glasses, became a symbol of the Harry Potter series. The first edition of this fantasy novel, which had a limited print run of only 500 copies, has had a massive global impact, with translations in over 80 languages and selling approximately 500 million copies worldwide.
