Hawking Stem Cell Treatments Deemed Unproven and Deceptive

Reported about 1 year ago

The lure of stem cell treatments promising 'Life Without Pain!' led to a lawsuit by Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird against a Minnesota man and his Florida business partner for misleading consumers, mostly elderly, into paying thousands for unproven stem cell therapies. Stem cells are considered experimental for most uses and have only been FDA-approved for certain blood cancer and immune system disorders, yet unproven therapies are being marketed for a wide range of ailments, causing harm such as blindness and tumors. While federal authorities have issued warnings and about 30 letters regarding unproven treatments, state attorneys general lawsuits may help regulate the industry, which is estimated to have over 2,700 clinics across the US.
