The translation of Japanese novels has gained popularity in the UK, with cozy fiction like 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold' by author Toshikazu Kawaguchi leading the way. The traditional reluctance of British readers towards translated literature seems to be shifting with a 40% growth in sales of Japanese translated novels in 2023, reaching £7 million. The series, set in a magical coffee shop where customers can travel back in time or fulfil their regrets, has seen success in the UK market, with the first volume selling more than 260,000 copies since its release in 2019.
