The controversy over priority seats on public transportation in Taiwan continues following recent incidents of conflicts arising from people refusing to give up seats. Health Minister Chiu Tai-yuan expressed support for retaining priority seats while aiming to improve in two directions by possibly renaming the seats and expanding the eligibility criteria. Chiu emphasized the importance of understanding and harmonizing between generations and considering the actual needs of individuals. Efforts to revise the law related to priority seats had previously been presented to the legislature for review, but more consensus-building is needed for further progress.
