Doctor Wang Zhaohong, director of the Heart Failure Center at Chang Gung Hospital in Keelung, Taiwan, warns that many heart failure patients are unaware of their condition. Common symptoms of heart failure include fatigue, swelling, and shortness of breath. Wang advises patients to monitor for edema by checking for leg swelling that does not bounce back when pressed, as well as feeling constantly fatigued. Excessive water intake during summer could lead to fluid accumulation in the lungs, causing respiratory distress. Wang recommends that heart failure patients monitor their weight daily, especially in the morning after urination. He also highlights various causes of heart failure, such as cardiovascular obstruction, heart attack, and unknown reasons.
